The history and story behind Villa Amaraada. Villa Amaraada, located in Nastola near Lahti city, is a former farm, where agriculture was practised in ancient times, kept farm animals and during long winters farmers were logging in forests. All forestry and agriculture had stopped long before we to our place. We have now owned the place more than 10 years and during that time slowly renovated the buildings on the ground. The main log house was built already back in 1880, when other buildings in the complex then later, when there has been a need for shelter for the cattle, to get the farm equipment inside and grain into barn. Years we were thinking about something utilization status for a big stable building, which of course was in poor condition, but with hard renovation could be utilized for any purpose. And for many years there was a thought that it would be proper place to keep a interior shop, where we could sell goods which belong to our way-of-life and objects of our interest. We have always been interested in interior design as well as old decoration objects, which we alrady had much more over our own needs, recycling and refurbishing the old goods and have appreciated the hand skills and hand-made goods. It evokes great respect and admiration, when you find an item that is more than 100 years old, made only with a knife, an axe and a saw. Or a smith has first done the tool to be compatible for production of certain object. Finally in fall of 2010 we decided to make it true and started to renovate the old stable for an interior and "life-style" store. In connection to the store we also have a workshop where we manufacture our own products, renovate the old rustic furniture and brainstorm new uses for all kind of esthetic objects and things. The operation starts first with webshop and later after renovation is completed, also in stable shop. You can follow the progress of renovation through the blog and Facebook.
